Now that the renovations have been completed at The George, we can look back at what we have achieved by way of sustainability.
We have converted our 30000lt in-ground swimming pool into a water reservoir and directed all the run-off rain water from the roof into the tank.
The water is then pumped up to our noise-retentive mound and drip waters the 200 odd plantings that we have included around the pub during the renovation.
The newly grassed area is also watered via the reservoir.
We have also installed the latest radiant electric heaters in our outdoor pergola area. These heaters heat the body and not the air so if you feel a bit chilly when you go in, the longer you stay the warmer you get. They are cheap to buy and cheap to run.
In the coming months, we are investigating alternative power options in an attempt to significantly reduce our power usage.
